Next Level Music Instruction
The Richmond Youth Jazz Guild is redefining music
instruction through a Jazz lens of ensemble instruction,
improvisation and mentorship. Improvisation--the foundation
of Jazz offers many opportunities for spontaneous creative
expression. This aspect of music education is often
neglected in traditional music programs. With an emphasis
placed on performing, rehearsing and jamming with other
musicians, students at the Richmond Youth Jazz Guild remain
motivated and enthusiastic about music study.

The Richmond Youth Jazz Guild is more
than a music studio, we are a music
preparatory for students that wish to pursue
careers in music and seek collegiate studies
in music. The RYJG is a member of the
Berklee City Music Network. The Berklee
City Music Network is a consortium of
community organizations across the United
States committed to delivering high-quality
contemporary music instruction to
underserved youth. The network is
designed to demonstrate and promote the
life-changing role that a contemporary
music education plays in the lives of these
students. Through the City Music Network
students at RYJG learn music through the
Berklee PULSE (Pre-University Learning
System Experience) method. This unique
curriculum gives students the benefits of a
Berklee education no matter where they
live. This proven state-of-the-art, online
method of teaching gives students access
to professional instructors at Berklee
College of Music.
